Speaking the Language of Justice: The Algorithmic Precision Paradox and Judicial Legitimacy in Post-Authoritarian Courts

The increasing integration of digital technologies and algorithmic tools within judicial systems has intensified debates concerning their implications for legal decision-making and the rule of law. This article examines these challenges through the concept of the algorithmic precision paradox, which captures the tension between computational accuracy and the normative foundations of justice. Using qualitative doctrinal and socio-legal methodology, the study analyses how algorithmic rationality may reshape judicial reasoning, discretion, and institutional authority within post-authoritarian judicial environments. Drawing on Bangladesh as an institutional context, the article examines how judicial digitalisation, including case management systems, virtual proceedings, and electronic filing, creates conditions under which algorithmic decision-support systems may prioritise quantification and predictive modelling over contextual legal interpretation. The article concludes that safeguarding judicial legitimacy requires governance, preservation of judicial interpretive authority, and accountability mechanisms aligning technological innovation with justice.
